Dragonflies have become very meaningful to me over the years.

After several extraordinary encounters that I experienced as visits from people I had loved and lost, I began thinking of dragonflies as winged messengers.

Since then, they seem to appear in my life again and again — sometimes in my yard, sometimes when I am walking, and occasionally even resting quietly on my artwork.

So when I create dragonflies, they are never simply beautiful insects to me.

They carry a feeling of connection, mystery, and the possibility that love may continue to find ways of making itself known.

In this piece, I wanted the dragonflies to feel almost luminous as they move through the flowers — delicate, vibrant, and just a little magical.

Of course, someone else may simply see two exquisite dragonflies surrounded by beautiful flowers.

And that is perfectly fine too.

Art always leaves room for the person looking at it to bring their own meaning.
